Successful design transcends mere visual appeal; it engages all the senses, inviting touch, stimulating emotions, and creating an immersive experience. At the 2024 Salone del Mobile, LINTELOO presented a collection that epitomizes this ethos. Under the theme ‘Touch & Feel,’ the showcase highlighted designs that entice tactile exploration and evoke deep emotional connections.
SALONE DEL MOBILE
Each piece in their new collection is crafted to elicit a visceral response, whether it’s the inviting texture of a fabric or the appealing silhouette of a furniture piece. The goal is to create spaces that not only please the eye but also nurture the soul.
Among the standout pieces is the ‘Bricks‘ pendant lamp by Sjoerd Vroonland, a poetic ode to the archetypal brick. Crafted from glass and metal, it showcases an exciting color gradient illuminated by an LED strip, inviting observers to contemplate the timeless significance of this humble building material. Sebastian Herkner‘s ‘Charles‘ coffee tables embody organic irregularities that invite tactile exploration. Cast in hand-modeled clay molds, these tables bear the visible traces of artisanal craftsmanship, forging a tangible connection between the object and its maker.
The ‘Gentle‘ armchair and dining chair by Herkner further exemplify the marriage of form and function. Hand-sculpted clay molds give rise to aluminum frames, imbuing the chairs with subtle imperfections that humanize the otherwise cold material, offering a tactile and inviting seating experience. On the other hand, Guillaume Lopez‘s ‘Claude‘ armchair and dining chair pay homage to the timeless elegance of the mid-1800s ‘crapaud’ design. With a pared-back aesthetic and oak veneered base, these pieces exude a sculptural beauty that transcends trends, embodying the essence of understated luxury.
Valerie van der Werff‘s ‘Framed‘ rug, with its nod to the shag rugs of the seventies, evokes a sense of nostalgia and comfort. Crafted from New Zealand wool with a contemporary twist, it provides a plush sanctuary for weary feet, grounding the space with warmth and texture.
